Review Variable Values within a Project

This how-to guide explains how to review variable values in a specific project. Understanding the current value of each variable helps ensure that forms, documents, and automation steps behave as expected. Reviewing variables is especially useful when troubleshooting issues with missing or incorrect content.

When to Review Variable Values

You should review variable values when you need to:

  • Verify that a form or document is pulling the correct data.
  • Troubleshoot issues where a variable appears empty or incorrect.
  • Confirm values before triggering automation or exporting data.
  • Audit the content used in a project’s templates.

To View Project Variables Values:

  1. Go to the Projects from the sidebar.
  2. Select View Project to open the specific project.
    View Project
  3. Click the Variables tab.
  4. Review the current values listed in the Value column next to each variable.

You can use the search bar to quickly locate a specific variable.

Only users with the appropriate permissions can view or edit project-level variables. If you don’t see the Variables tab, contact your workspace administrator.

Tips for Identifying Issues

If variables aren’t working as expected in a document or form:

  • Empty Values: The variable hasn’t been assigned a value.
  • Incorrect Values: The content may be outdated or copied from another source.
  • Formatting Issues: The value may not match the required format (e.g., dates or dropdowns).

Always confirm that the variable key matches exactly what is used in your forms or documents. A small typo can prevent the value from appearing.
